Japanese

We currently offer progressive (evening) and customised courses in the Japanese language, along with a specialized business course.  Our students have rated 89.6% of our Japanese courses as ‘good’ or ‘excellent’ in the anonymous feedback forms we collect as part of our internal auditing process.  No student has ever rated the teaching below satisfactory.

Our Japanese language programmes are designed according to what our learners need to enable them to use the language.  We strive to develop our learners’ language skills in the areas of Speaking, Listening, Reading and Writing. We recognise that language takes place with the context of culture.  Students will be introduced to the Japanese cultural aspects of the language throughout different stages of the courses.

All students who have studied Japanese before will be asked to take a placement test, of approximately one hour, to enable us the place them at the correct level of their course, or in the case of customised courses, to help us tailor their course to their precise needs.

Progressive Japanese (evening class)

We offer a progressive Japanese evening class on Monday or Thursday evenings from 7.30 until 9.30 pm. New students can join for an introductory 24-hour course over 3 months, at a cost of RM360, payable in two installments.

As for all our progressive courses except English, the Japanese course consists of six levels (from beginner to advanced), with nine modules per level.  Each module takes 4 weeks (i.e. it takes 9 months to complete a level).  The introductory course covers the first three modules.

A certificate will be presented to students on completion of the first 3 months, and then with the completion of each level, providing their class attendance is a minimum of 75%, and that they obtain a minimum of 60% on the examination.

Our classes run with a minimum of six students and a maximum of 15.

Customised Japanese (anytime)

We are also able to deliver training courses tailored to the needs of businesses, small groups and individuals.  Our reputation amongst corporate clients is steadily growing and the repeat business we are offered is a sure sign of customer satisfaction.  We have delivered customised Japanese courses to manufacturers, technological and electronics companies, and delivered individual training to senior managers from most sectors of industry.  Visit the ‘Corporate services’ page of this site, in the 'What we do' section, for more information.

Basic communication with a business emphasis

This course has been developed for newcomers to the Japanese language and takes place over fourteen weeks with 2 hours of class contact time per week, on Fridays from 7.30 until 9.30 pm (28 class hours total), at a cost of RM350.  We have found in the past that some companies choose to send their staff along to our courses to develop their general Japanese language skills, rather than having a course customised to the exact requirement of their daily operations.  You may be able to encourage your HR department to sponsor you to take this course.

By the end of the seven weeks, students are able to understand the Japanese Alphabet (Hiragana), handle introductions, request and offer assistance/help, make reference to the workplace, ask and give directions and simple instructions, use numbers, currency and time, understand and use statements and questions related to persuasion, information and humor applicable to business negotiation, and they will have participated in conversational exercises through role playing in given business contexts.

To register your interest in this course, please call the administration office.  The course always starts on the first Friday of a month, and will next be scheduled to run once a minimum of six students have registered.

A certificate will be presented to students on completion of this course, providing their class attendance is a minimum of 75%, and that they obtain a minimum of 60% on the examination.
