Chinese

We at Dynamic Language Centre are committed to the proficiency of our learners.  Our Chinese language programme is designed according to what our learners need to enable them to use the language.  We strive to develop our learners’ language skills in the areas of Speaking, Listening, Reading and Writing. We recognise that language takes place with the context of culture.  Students will be introduced to the Chinese cultural aspects of the language throughout different stages of the courses.

We offer three modes of study of the Chinese language: intensive, progressive and customised programmes.

All students who have studied Chinese before will be asked to take a placement test, of approximately one hour, to enable us the place them at the correct level of their course, or in the case of customised courses, to help us tailor their course to their precise needs.

Intensive Chinese (daytime classes)

Our intensive programme has proved popular amongst international students in particular.  We have taught students, mainly from the USA, to reach a level of language that has enabled them to communicate wholly in Chinese.  The intensive programme consists of six levels (from beginner to advanced).  Each level has three modules, each of seven weeks’ duration, with a one week break between modules.  There are 15 hours of contact time each week, but students are also required to complete homework daily.  We would recommend that beginner students complete one and a half years’ worth of full-time study (3 levels) in order to function sufficiently well in the language.

Obviously, the longer students have available for study the more progress they will make and the more fluent they will become.  If, as a potential student, you wish to see exactly what you would learn on our intensive programme, the module descriptors are available from our administrative office on request.

The ideal class size for the intensive Chinese programme is between six and 12 students, though we are able to run with fewer students.

A certificate will be presented to students on completion of each level, providing their class attendance is a minimum of 75%, and that they obtain a minimum of 60% on the examination.

Progressive Chinese (evening classes)

We offer a progressive Chinese evening class on Tuesday or Thursday evenings from 7.30 until 9.30 pm. New students can join for an introductory 24-hour course over 3 months, at a cost of RM360, payable in two installments. 

As for all our progressive courses except English, the Chinese course consists of six levels (from beginner to advanced), with nine modules per level.  Each module takes 4 weeks (i.e. it takes 9 months to complete a level).  The introductory course covers the first three modules.

A certificate will be presented to students on completion of the first 3 months, and then with the completion of each level, providing their class attendance is a minimum of 75%, and that they obtain a minimum of 60% on the examination.

Our classes run with a minimum of six students and a maximum of 15.

Customised Chinese (anytime)
